Forever Stamps: Upcoming and Most Popular Forever Stamps of 2022

In the blink of an eye, the end of September 2022 has arrived, and before October, the USPS has issued a series of forever stamps with special meaning or elaborate design. What are the upcoming stamps? Let me introduce you to some of the most popular and new unissued forever stamps of the recent past.

2022 Pony Cars Forever Stamps

Pony Cars Forever Stamps

August 25 | Sacramento, CA at Great American Stamp Show

In honor of these iconic high-performance coupes and convertibles that brought youth to the automotive world, the postal issue includes five iconic American cars – the 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302, the 1970 Dodge Challenger R/ forever stamp for T, 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, 1967 Mercury Cougar XR -7 GT and 1969 AMC Javelin SST. To better represent the Pony Cars that have captured the hearts of Americans, the stamps are designed with color on the fields. The design of the forever stamps features bold colors and eye-catching light, perfectly expressing the energy and mystery of the Pony Cars. Time flies and adventurous young drivers enjoy the thrill of driving a Pony Car. I think this is also a concrete manifestation of the adventurous and youthful spirit of Americans.

2022-Webb-Space-Telescope Forever Stamp

James Webb Space Telescope Forever Stamp

September 8 | Washington, DC (National Postal Museum)

As we all know, the James Webb Space Telescope is the world’s premier observatory for space exploration. This forever stamp acknowledges the contribution of the James Webb Space Telescope NASA to humanity’s observation of the early universe and the limits of the known universe. The release of Webb’s first images and spectra heralds the beginning of the Webb Science Initiative, in which astronomers worldwide will have the opportunity to use Webb’s four instruments to observe everything from objects in the solar system to the early universe. The image on the postage stamp is an artist’s digital rendering of a telescope with dazzling starlight. Webb captured images of stars and distant space at the edge of the disk at the beginning of his mission, brilliantly confirming the perfect alignment of the telescope’s 18 segments. This forever stamp is of great collector value for stamp collectors and astronomers alike.

Holiday Elves Forever Stamps

September 15 | North Pole, AK

The Postal Service is stirring the Christmas spirit with four new holiday stamp prints featuring various digital illustrations of Brownies, whimsical elves smiling as they prepare toys on a winding conveyor belt in a snow-covered forest. Like numerous cherished Christmas traditions – including Santa Claus himself – brownies did not become popular in America until the – 19th century. In the 20th century, as brownies became firmly entrenched in the American Christmas story, they eventually became part of TV specials, movies, and books.

Santa’s home, North Pole, Alaska, is known for its Christmas decorations, including deli club – lights on the streets. The USPS has a Santa Letters program where children’s letters from Santa are postmarked with a North Pole postmark.

Don Clark was the artist and developer of the stamps. Antonio Alcalá was the artistic director.

Virgin and Child Forever Stamps

September 22 | Boston, MA

2022 forever stamps depict “The Virgin and Child” an oil painting from the first half of the 16th century by a Florentine artist known as the Master of Mourning. The painting, now in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, depicts the Virgin Mary looking down on the Christ Child, one of her arms protecting his waist and the other tenderly caressing his arm, while the Christ Child gazes at the frame on the left. According to Wikipedia, the artist Francesco Granacci was born in 1469 and trained in the studio of Domenico Ghirlandaio in Florence. Of particular interest is that Granacci was a lifelong friend of Michelangelo and one of the artists who helped Michelangelo build the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel.

Peanuts Forever Stamps

September 30 | Santa Rosa, CA

My personal favorite that I am most looking forward to is the upcoming Peanuts Forever stamp issue on September 30, 2022, because here are my favorite Snoopy Forever stamps. The Postal Service is honoring Peanuts as the most popular and successful comic strip in history and will issue Peanuts Forever stamps on Sept. 30 as one of the 2022 USPS commemorative stamps.

Since its appearance in 1950, “Peanuts” have attracted hundreds of millions of readers around the world. In the 1960s, “Peanuts” became a worldwide phenomenon with influential and popular books, television specials, a Broadway show, and countless products.

Celebrating the centennial of cartoonist Charles M. Schulz’s (1922-2000) birth, the 10 new stamps feature some familiar faces from the comic strip, including Charlie Brown, Lucy, Franklin, Sally, Pigpen, Linus, Snoopy (with Woodstock), Schroeder, Peppermint Patty and, of course, Marcie.

Through his popular “Peanuts” characters, Schulz shows his wit and wisdom.

Each character in “Peanuts” shows Schulz’s vivid imagination and great kindness to others. Like Charlie Brown, who stars in “Peanuts,” he is often defeated but always resilient. In Schultz’s story, the pain of life is written in a humorous tone that resonates and comforts the reader as they read.

The new USPS Snoopy Stamps, 10 Peanuts stamps forever, frame a 1987 photo of Schultz, designed by art director Greg Breeding from an image of Schultz and an existing photo by Douglas Kirkland.

2022 Snowy Beauty Forever Stamps

Snowy Beauty Forever Stamps

October 11 | Guilford, IN

Snowy Beauty forever stamps grace the New Forever Stamp and celebrate the unexpected beauty of flowers in the snow with this booklet of 20 stamps. In 2022, there will be 24 flower-themed stamps in the United States. During this special time, these flower stamps visually bring us the warmth and cheerfulness of the natural landscape. Seasons change, and gardens are all beautiful places. Even if there is no warm spring sun, even after an unexpected snowfall, the flowers, and berries of the garden bloom with their unique charm. In these hand-painted and drawn designs, the artist uses light, shadow, and bright colors to depict the beauty of 10 species: Camellia, winter aconite, crocus, black cypress, winterberry, pansy, plum, grape hyacinth, daffodils, and buttercups.

Derry Noyes has designed these stamps based on original oil paintings by Gregory Manchess.

2022 Kwanzaa Forever Stamps

Kwanzaa Forever Stamps

October 13 | St. Louis, MO

On October 13, 2022, the Postal Service will issue a stamp for Kwanzaa, a festival that has its origins in ancient and modern first harvest celebrations across the continent. In 2022, Kwanzaa begins on Dec. 26 and ends on Jan. 1.

The stamp shows two children, a girl, and a boy, standing together with a kinara (candlestick) and the seven burning candles (mishumaa saba) in front of them. They are dressed in robes reminiscent of spiritual garments. A light blue circle behind the children’s heads represents wholeness and unites the figures, and a mosaic motif frames the background.

As a festival to celebrate health, prosperity, and happiness. The Kwanzaa festival is also an opportunity to reflect on past hardships of individuals and communities, and to remember how history can influence future well-being.

Each year, millions of African Americans gather with friends and family during Kwanzaa to celebrate the seven foundational principles of the Pan-African vacation: solidarity (Umoja), self-determination (Kujichagulia), collective work and responsibility (Ujima), economic cooperation (Ujamaa), purpose (Nia), creativity (Kuumba), and faith (Imani).

2022 Women Cryptologists of World War II Forever Stamp

Women Cryptologists of World War II Forever Stamp

October 18 | Annapolis Junction, MD

The Women Cryptologists of World War II Forever Stamps feature an image of a World War II WAVES recruitment poster superimposed with characters of the “purple” code used by the Japanese government to encrypt diplomatic messages. On the edge of the pane, seemingly random letters can be deciphered to reveal some keywords. On the back of the window, you will find the password needed to read the word.

At a time when the feminist movement is developing and gaining momentum, the issue of World War II Women Cryptographers Forever stamps can be seen as yet another affirmation of the outstanding contributions of women. During World War II, some 11,000 women worked day and night to process and decrypt the constant stream of enemy military information. The services of women cryptographers played an immeasurable role in the Allied victory.

WAVES (Women Accepting Volunteer Emergency Services) was established in July 1942 as part of the U.S. Navy Reserve. The keys to the Purple Cipher were discovered by a female cryptographer in the U.S. Army Signals Intelligence Agency.

2022 Hanukkah Forever Stamp

Hanukkah Forever Stamp

October 20 | Chagrin Falls, OH

After 2020, the Postal Service will continue its tradition of celebrating the joyous vacation of Hanukkah and plans to issue a Hanukkah-themed stamp in October 2022. The stamp’s design features an original sconce design. Unlike previous candlestick stamps, the 2022 USPS Forever stamps are designed with fiber art. Hand-dyed, appliqued, and quilted to create a colorful abstract image of Hanukkah, this is a nine-piece menorah used only on Hanukkah.

How can I buy the new 2022 USPS Forever Stamps?

How is it possible? After learning the background of these beautiful Miorco artworks, do you feel encouraged? Do you feel that it is worthwhile to start and collect them? I recommend three ways to buy stamps. The first recommended place to buy is usps.com.

Officially, this is the definitive website for buying stamps. Or search for “2022 USPS Forever Stamps” on a shopping site like Amazon, eBay, and others, and you will find various choices of stamps and collectibles. Online stores like Forever Stamp Store (swstamp.com) and Delivery Stamp (deliverystamp.com) have regular special sales where you can find some nice specimens at fair prices.

As for me, I always prefer to visit some niche websites with their own features compared to the big shopping websites to place orders to gain more knowledge about collecting, selling, transporting, or storing stamps.
